Obverse: On a concave pebbled background, Springbok leaping to the left with two crossed protea flowers below. On a raised band above: REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA and below between stops: 1961 1966.

Reverse: A large Roman numeral "V" superimposed on a map of South Africa. On a raised band above: REPUBLIEK VAN SUID-AFRICA and below between stops, two crossed sprigs of laurel.
