Offered for sale is a fine bronze paperweight  study of a Roan Antelope modelled  by esteemed South African wildlife artist /sculptor  Keith Calder. Keith Calder was born in Cradock in the Eastern Cape in 1959 . He commenced his career as a Conservationist/Game Ranger  in which capacity he worked for 10 years mostly at the Kruger National Park .He began modelling animal forms in clay whilst recuperating from Malaria and subsequently honed and developed his skills to become a recognized and highly regarded full time artist mostly working in bronze . His career as a full time  sculptor dates from around 1987 when he received his first major commission from St Stithians College for a large animal study of antelope   This piece dates from 1989 and is part of a range of animal studies he designed for a pharmaceutical group E Romel as promotional gifts. I have seen a Pangolin and seated Heron designed by Calder from this collection. Keith Calders work is represented in many corporate art collections and  includes large scale commissions of animal studies in bronze  for corporate clients including First National Bank for  Bank City Jhb ; FNB Stadium, Di Data,  De Beers,Fifa World Cup,  various Embassies ,and the grounds of private schools and colleges including Bishopscourt, St Johns College  etc etc
