Vintage Buganda Prisons Service cap badge with Kings Crown, shield and crossed spears. Collectable Ugandan colonial / post-independence insignia.
This item is a vintage Buganda Prisons Service cap badge, originating from the Buganda Kingdom within present-day Uganda. The design features a traditional shield with crossed spears, topped by a Kings Crown, indicating use during the British colonial period or shortly after Ugandan independence, when the Buganda monarchy was still actively recognised.
Before the creation and nationalisation of the Uganda Prisons Service, individual kingdoms such as Buganda maintained their own policing and prison structures. Badges from this period are considered scarce and sought after, and are usually found through specialist militaria and African insignia dealers.
This is a collectors item of regional and colonial interest, not a currency piece.
