BULLET LIGHTER ~ NICKEL OVER BRASS
Known to be described as trench art; lighters made from bullets during WW I and WW II
Whilst this lighter has been refined with electroplating nickel and contemporised, it does not appear to be a modern replica.
Its construction is simple: ~
Two holes one for the wick and one for the flint channel and striking gear
The bottom of the ligter unscrews to show the whick set up and receive the lighter fluid
The flint chamber is also accessible from beneat with a screw and spring
The top of the bullet is not fitted with a hinge cap ~ it simply screws over the top
The base mettal is brass
Whilst not knowledgable on these units it is suggested that the wick and wick chamber be re-filled with fresh wick, as the present may be stale
It sparks super with two flints inserted in the chamber rather than only one
It also appears that it will take better to the black flint variety, which are harder than the brown type
Dimension length (top / down) ~6.5cm
Weight ~ 6.6gram
