This stunning Burleigh Ware cake plate, made by Burgess & Leigh of Burslem, has the design registration number for 1908, though according to www.thepotteries.org the backstamp on this piece was used in the 1930s. The word 'Claremont' on the backstamp refers to the decorative pattern. The condition is good but there are two VERY small nibbles on the rim (see photo of the larger of these) and most of the gold on the rim has worn away through use. Diameter 280 mm.
