I've been a big fan of Dirk Swartenbroeckx aka "Buscemi" since I first heard Ramiro's Theme some 4 years ago on the cd "Our Girl in Havanna" and "Glucklich vol IV". This Belgian artist, who is indeed a fan of the actor Steve Buscemi, has put out loads of vinyls and has some pretty sweet remixes out too. This is the third feature release and usually Buscemi's influencs are house, latin vibes, Brazilian beats, French flair and beautiful women!

This is probably my favorite of his releases. It starts out with a neat electronic cut called Gadget Girls before moving into a song with a fantastic almost ambient vibe "Obrigado!". On vocals in that track is French diva Isabelle Antena - if you're a Thievery Corporation fan and have been to the DC Lounge, you've definitely heard her before. Next you move onto the cool jazzed up beats of "Viaje Feliz" with more latin touches and down the road in this cd you also have probably my favorite cut; "Midnight Sessions". What a great beat! It comes in with some samba and moves along so smoothly. Buscemi kicks things up again with the beaty and breezy Seaside which again features Isabelle Antena on vocals and the title track's pretty cool with an interesting beat and background to it.

I recommend this. It's definitely got a more mature sound than his earlier works and with some quality guest vocalists on the tracks, it's a no brainer. Isabelle Antena, Carla Alexandar (remember "Volume" in 2002?) and Michael Franti. If you dig this, DEFINITELY check out Break & Bossa vol 6 which hs 2 of his cuts on the mixed side - including "Midnight Sessions". Another compilation to check out would be Glucklich 4 and 5. You'd probably also like Jaffa's "Elevator", Mr. Scruff and music by Compost's Jazzanova, Truby Trio, Fauna Flash and last but certainly not least... maybe even most of all - Minus 8's "Minuit". - Amazon User Review
