WHY ACTIVATED?
Raw almonds naturally contain phytic acid, which slows down or prevents the absorption of minerals like iron, zinc, manganese, and calcium in our bodies. They also contain enzyme inhibitors, which prevent the nuts from sprouting prematurely, but also make the nuts more difficult to digest. Activation neutralises the enzyme inhibitors and promotes the growth of digestive enzymes. This reduces the amount of starch and fibre in the nuts while increasing the levels of essential vitamins. This process is believed to make them more nutritious and easier to digest.
