Engraved c1890 Brass Vesta Case, or match case,

tusk shaped with a pig or boar featured on the lid.

Rare, collectable tusk shaped Vesta case, with a pig adornment on the spring hinged lid.It also came with a Elephant and a Lion instead of the pig.
Made of Brass, and engraved in a pattern just below the lid, with a hook to attach it to a key ring, or even a neck chain for an interesting and unique necklace piece. Matches would be stored in the body of the tusk, and accessed by opening the hinged lid. The hinge and the spring assistance both in excellent condition. Overall in excellent condition, Matches could be struck on the serrations. Maximum length is 6.5 cm, and at the widest point it measures 2.6 cm . It weighs 21 gm ( slightly under 3/4 oz)

It's in great condition and just shows some wear from age and normal use.Lovely colour. Head opens but does have a little give when closes.
