C1900's - LIEGEOISE (Belgium) Brass and Glass Suspension Oil Lamp (1.5m!) - Complete!
Wow, this is one of those items that you have to GRAB with all your might when you see it, it is SCARCE like hen's teeth, hardly ever comes up for sale (ONLY ONE on BoB) and priced extremely reasonably for a quick sale! Simply a FABULOUS find and what an impressively large suspension oil lamp from yesteryear! It is in unbelievably good vintage condition, the milky white glass shade free of chips or cracks as is the see through clear glass chimney that fits onto the removable oil lamp. The heat deflector (bell shaped brass item at top of the lamp) is intact and present and anybody who has researched vintage oil suspension lamps will know that these deflectors are really hard to find. The oil lamp lifts out of the holder so one could use it as a table lamp or place it back in the brass holder for a suspension lamp. The lamp is really LARGE, including the chain at the top it measures 1.53m long and lamp only excluding suspension chain, measures a wopping 94cm tall! The diameter of the milky glass shade is 38cm and it is 13cm tall. The oil lamp only (lifted out of it's holder) stands 42cm tall. The wick adjuster is marked "LIEGEOISE LAMPE MF Brevetee SLDG". There is very little wrong with this lamp, I notice a few minor dents on the brass body of the oil lamp and the brass ring that the glass shade rests on also with a few minor dents (that could probably be straightened with a bit of TLC). Still for a lamp this old, one can overlook a couple of minor blemishes so as to appreciate it's rarity, beauty and nostalgic appeal. Combined weight: +/- 3.7kg.
Extremely RARE to come across on of these,
Hardly ever seen for sale as these lamps are TREASURED in private collections!!!
