"Late flat Dutch"
The most popular late variety Cabbage, the Late Flat Dutch Cabbage is a standard giant head cabbage. It produces large (10 to 15-lb heads) that have a delicious flavor and store well.
The leaves are excellent for wrapping and can be harvested while the head continues to grow.
Cabbage is well know to be a great source of vitamins and has, recently, been said to have disease-preventive properties as well.
This cabbage may grow poorly in warm weather but will quickly revive as the weather cools down.
The Late Flat Dutch Cabbage was introduced in 1840 by German immigrants. This Cabbage was a very popular source of cut greens in Virginia in the early 1900s.
