This is a biography of the Scottish colourist, Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell (1883-1937). Using previously unpublished material, and accompanied by numerous colour plates of paintings in public and private collections, the book traces Cadell's career, from his early sketches as a boy to the interiors of the 1920s and 1930s. Cadell, together with Peploe, Hunter and Fergusson, formed an influential group, "The Colourists".
