Want a cool-season pot filled with unusual, colourful pocketbook blooms? Follow our Calceolaria F1 Dainty Mix Grow Guide for practical sowing, germination, transplanting and regional care advice.
Use a fine, free-draining seed medium. Place one pellet on the surface, keep it evenly damp and provide bright light and gentle airflow. Transplant when the plug is rooted and harden off gradually. Keep plants sheltered and well drained, especially during humid or rainy weather. Raise plugs at 18°C or warmer, then allow four to five weeks of warm growth at 1822°C after transplanting before encouraging flower buds. Where conditions can be managed, keep days shorter than 12 hours during this growth phase, then use five to six weeks at 1015°C for flower initiation and finish at 1517°C. Long days at 1821°C can also encourage flowering; a cool treatment is not essential in every garden. Home timing varies with temperature, daylength and establishment.
Important: This is an ornamental seed crop, not edible seed. Follow the current packet for any treatment or handling statement.
