Common Name: Calendula Pacific Beauty Calendula Pacific Beauty is very easy to grow, and an adaptive plant that will prosper under most conditions. Calendula is native to the Canary Islands, South and Central Europe, and North Africa, and it is an old English cottage garden flower. If you are looking for something with large, beautiful flowers that is easy to grow, this is the plant. The Pacific Beauty has 12.5cm bright orange and yellow, double, daisy-like flowers. They bloom and perform best in cool weather, but will bloom satisfactorily in all conditions except deep shade and extreme heat. In warm climates, they bloom from autumn to spring and in cool climates, spring and early summer. It prefers full sun locations. The plant is very adaptive to soils types, as long as it is in well drained soils. The soils should be kept moist but not soggy. You can plant Calendula in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, and in warm climates plant in late summer or early autumn for winter/spring bloom. The Calendula is a long lasting cut flower and looks great planted in masses, such as in borders, parking strips and containers.
