White Sage (Salvia apiana) is native to southern California and northern Mexico, where indigenous communities have used it for generations as medicine for relieving anxiety, pains associated with menstruation and pregnancy. It is more commonly known for its properties as an aide for cleansing, purifying and praying in spiritual ceremonies. White Sage was so important in Native American traditions in the north that they were banned from using it until 1978. Indigenous communities now use it sparingly to avoid overharvesting. Many avoid lighting it with a lighter, because it is believed that the butane in lighter fluid suppresses its medicinal properties, preferring instead to use matches. Our White Sage is ethically sourced from sustainable growers.
Dragon's Blood hails from South America, where it is used medicinally for its powerful skin healing properties and to assist in gastrointestinal health. It is also used as an ally in healing ceremonies. It is believed to offer spiritual protection, correct spiritual imbalances and to promote a deeper connection to the realms of spirit. Energetically, it is linked to the sacral chakra which governs creativity, sexuality and emotional balance. Recommended use: Use this combination of sacred plants with intention.
To use, simply light the tip of the smudge stick using matches, and let it burn for a few seconds, then blow out the flame, allowing the smudge stick to smolder. Use a fireproof dish to catch the ashes, and waft the smoke around the person, area or object that you wish to purify. Repeat the process as needed.
