Cameo was the name given to a range of vehicles produced under the Corgi banner during the companys ownership by Mattel Inc of USA. Whilst in part the Swansea factory was still open Mattel adopted the previous managments plan and continued to source the manufacture of vehicles from Chnia through their venture with the Hong Kong based Flying Dragon Co. Plastic replaced the more solid diecast vehicle shells that had become synonymous with earlier Corgi production but the market place had changed and competitive production practices quickly replaced the need for longevity of product. Today Corgi Cameo's have become a much sought after collectors item.
