The Canon 28-135mm IS USM lens is a fabulous buy as this image stabilized lens is used by portrait & wedding photographers due to it's ideal range.  It is ultra fast & silent due to it's ultrasonic motor.  It is a big, solid, well-built lens with a metal mount and the ideal workhorse for many pros.  It is a huge upgrade from the standard Canon kit lens and the price is a steal at R3500 (should you phone around you'll find this selling at more than twice this price).  You can easily sell it on for a lot more should you upgrade in the future.  Ships by overnight speedpost. 

NB:  I got this lens as part of a kit with an EOS 5D camera.  As I already own a lens like this it is redundant. It does not come in an individual box because it was part of a kit. The lens is new however.
