Canon EFS 55-250mm F4.0-5.6 IS

This powerful telephoto zoom lens has focal length equivalent of 88-400mm in 35mm format, a versatile lens for good for portraiture and more scenic field sports and wildlife shots and general-purpose telephoto photography.

Its aperture of f/4 is fairly fast and bright for a lens of its class, and is specifically designed to mount the Canon EOS DSLR range.
The Canon EFS 55-250mm lens is coated in Canon’s Super Spectra Coating, employs a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens element, image stabiliser, circular aperture and is made from environmentally friendly lead-free glass.

Super Spectra Coatings
Combats ghosting and flare by absorbing light that may be reflected off sensors or internal lens elements, ensuring accurate colour balance and sharp, high-contrast results.

UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) Lens element
This suppresses the effects of secondary chromatic aberrations - for crisp, sharp, high-contrast images; even at full telephoto zoom extension.

Image Stabilizer with automatic panning detection
A 4-stop compensation Image Stabilizer  which uses up to 4 ties slower shutter speeds to combat blur caused by camera shake, and the automatic panning detection automatically turns off the Image Stabilizer, in either the horizontal or vertical direction, when following moving subjects.

Circular aperture diaphragm
For smooth, even background blur - ideal for emphasising subjects in the frame.
