The point of contact between the toner cartridge chip and the printer is not stable (see photos)

You'll have to manually adjust them in order for the printer to recognise the toner, else the printer will just sit there and do nothing. 


The printer works just fine once the toner has been set in place (just don't move the print around too mush or you'll have re-sit the toner again).
