Cape Coin Heritage : STERLING SILVER : Portugal: Moidore 1712

 The Cape Coin Heritage Set comprises of 30 metallic replicas of coins which circulated during the early days at the Cape of Good Hope.

 The coins are actually larger than crowns (45 mm in diameter) and weigh on average 37 grams each. They were struck in .925 Sterling Silver more than 40 years ago in 1978.

 

The original set comprised of 30 coins divided into 5 groups of 6 coins each being "The Dutch Collection", "The British Collection", "The Seaborne Empires", "The Dollar Dynasties" and "Tavern of the Seas".

 The coin you are bidding on here formed part of the “Tavern of the Seas” being a  1712 Moidore of Portugal.
