In this book, James Walton deals with a previously unrecorded aspect of Cape vernacular architecture,
namely the dovecots, fowl-runs and fowl-houses. Many of these buildings are among the most beautiful
examples of early Cape architecture. The author spent nearly three years in collecting the information,
which is illustrated by a hundred and thirty photographs and drawings.
