Cape of Good Hope General Service Medal Miniature Bechuanaland Clasp
Original miniature Cape of Good Hope General Service Medal, complete with the scarce Bechuanaland clasp.
The Cape of Good Hope General Service Medal was instituted in 1880 and awarded to members of the Cape Colonial forces and volunteers who served in various frontier campaigns. The Bechuanaland clasp was issued for service in the 1897 Bechuanaland Expedition, a little-known but significant campaign to suppress a potential uprising and maintain British influence in the region making this miniature a genuinely collectable piece of Cape colonial history.
A superb addition for:
Colonial Cape Wars collectors
British Empire medal enthusiasts
South African militaria specialists
Historical miniature display collections
Condition:
Good overall condition for age, with original ribbon present and the Bechuanaland clasp firmly attached. Fine detail remains visible on the obverse and reverse. Please examine photographs carefully for exact condition.
A desirable miniature of a rare and important Cape colonial campaign award.
