I can say the following about the artist:
1. Whenever I have had a painting of his, and I've had quite a few, it has always sold quite quickly. Douglas Treasure, whose style is often somewhat similar to that of Sydney Carter, experienced considerable success with his watercolours on the South African market before his death in 1995. Interest in his work has continued, and his work regularly gets auctioned by Sothebys.
2. I recently sold a painting of his through bidorbuy, an exquisite scene of a country cottage. Though his work can be variable, this is another very very good one of a Cape Town township scene in winter with lines and colouring reminiscent of other Cape Impressionist winter works, including that of Boonzaier. Treasure has also painted his characteristic filagree tree branches against a traditional Cape scene.
