Hardcover first published 1954 by Jonathan Cape. The card jacket is whole, but rubbed and soiled along the spine and folds, where there are also several small holes. The edges are worn and chipped, and the faces lightly marked. The reverse is tanned. The maroon boards are clean and sharp, but the spine is slightly cocked. The bookplate of a previous owner is pasted to the inside front board, but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
