This is a New Intensity shuttle I bought these two a few weeks ago, but they don't actually suite my specific requirements. Having said that - they are fantastic, and if I could afford to keep them I would, but I need to but other equipment that will suite my very specific niche requirement. Note that this is a Windows only USB 3.0 device. It will not work with USB 2.0 and it won't work with a notebook express card! - It has to be a bona fide USB 3.0 port. Recommended by the manufacturer is the NEC chipset.
The Intensity shuttle allows you to stream true HD from your camera, and store it directly on your hard drive in real time. In-camera compression systems like AVCHD always leave artifacts in your video. But this device allows you to capture video quality directly onto your computer that can only generally be achieved with cameras costing R 100 000 +. If you are looking for quality or need to create training videos etc, this is the perfect device. |
The Intensity Shuttle is the world’s first 10 bit HD/SD editing/streaming solution for USB 3.0 computers! Simply plug in Intensity Shuttle and get access to incredible quality 10 bit HDMI, analog component, composite and s-video capture and playback. Intensity Shuttle’s innovative design is compact and portable, plus you can plug inline with your cables because input connections are on one side, and output connections on the other! Intensity Shuttle powers from the USB 3.0 connection so you don’t need cumbersome power supplies. Intensity Shuttle comes ready with advanced video technology such as HDMI 1.3 and 1080p electronics, so it will grow as faster high performance USB 3.0 computers are released in the future!
If you've wanted to capture the HDMI signal from set top boxes or your camcorder or your games console straight to you computer, - Or to stream live uncompressed HD video to Big Screens - the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle is an inexpensive breakout box that can do just that...providing your computer has USB 3.0.
Tthe box accepts and captures HDMI signals as 10 bit, uncompressed signals. That's interesting for home entertainment purposes (from what I can tell, the device has at least some workaround measures for HDMI's copy protection), but if you have a camcorder with HDMI-out, it means you could likely record the image straight to your computer and output it Large Screen without being compressed into a pocket-friendly codec.
The Shuttle is also equipped with HDMI-out, so you edit to external monitors. Plus, it upscales any standard def content that comes its way.
