The name is derived from the elongatedlower portion of the axe head that provides a wide cutting surface withoutincreasing the total weight. The extended part also makes it very well suitedfor catching shields. The shaft is treated, polished rosewood. A hand-sewnleather protector is included.Disclaimer: A skeggox is not a heavy-duty wood chopping axe. The blade is thinand made for cutting, whilst a wood chipping axe has a wedge-shaped blade towithstand the impact. The elongated parts of the blade are especially vulnerablefor heavy impacts since they have no "backing".
