For the past 30 years, Dr. Johan DU TOIT has been a general practice in Port ELIZABETH. His interest in wood and furniture made of quality wood originated in his youth and he sees it as a family tradition. The thought of writing this book originated from noticing so many neglected pieces of furniture over the years. Another motivation was the lack of a guide to woodcare with a true South African touch. While working on his hobby the author acquired a sound knowledge of techniques concerning woodcare. Intensive research into a wide range of woodcare products proceeds the compilation of this book.

This book is dedicated to my wife who encouraged me to pursue my hobby.
