Super scarce in first edition - I can trace only one worldwide selling a $ 85 - Book and wrapper without flaw - Looks new and unread to me - Wrapper now in removable protective plastic sleeve.     >>>   Evil haunts the Witches' Bridge...  the foggy marshes...  the old Pride house!!  Now young Dan Pride has come to live there. Can he escape the terror that hangs over Witches' Bridge ?  That night, Dan sees a weird light, flickering out on the marsh. "D-A-N,"the light spells out in code. "DAN PRIDE..."   >>>   The Mystery of the Witches' Bridge was my favorite book long ago. I was given the book in fifth grade by my teacher however it was years later when I read it and I loved it.  The  young boy, Dan Pride, who only wants a family and to belong somewhere, makes friends with children of people his family has been feuding with since they accused Dan's ancestors of witchcraft and led the town in its witch hunt. Things look bad for Dan and his new friends for a long time. The climax of the story will make children and maybe adults hold their breath. Dan's accused of arson, sought in the marsh at night in fiddler's fog and a supposed friend trying to kill him.  In the end everything comes  to light, the feud is settled, forgiven and put behind them.   -  It's an excellent read for children.  >>>   Rumor said that the witch Samuel would appear as a large black dog and folks claimed to hear Samuel playing his fiddle near the Witches' Bridge.    >>>   Dan Pride has come to Prides Point to live with his Uncle Julian after the death of his parents in London. Everything about his new home is strange to him from the musty old mansion to the salty sea air to Caliban, Uncle Julians massive unfriendly dog.   -   Mrs. Corey, the housekeeper, and Billy Ben, the handyman, try to help Dan understand his new home by telling him the  stories surrounding the Pride family. There's the cursed ancestor, accused of being a witch. The Fiddler, whose violin music can be heard when something is threatening the family, and the feud with the Bishops, another local family.  All the stories do though, is make everything feel stranger to Dan.   -   When Dan meets another boy named Pip and his twin sister Gilly in town, he thinks things are looking up. When he hears the mysterious music floating over the marsh one night, hes hopeful that his new friends can help him figure out whats going on.  But then his uncle meets Pip, and Dan is in big  trouble. Pip, it turns out, is actually Philip Bishop, and suddenly Dan is forbidden from seeing him.   -   Can Dan convince Uncle Julian that Pip is not his enemy? Can the boys work together to solve the mystery of the violin music? Can they find the missing money that restarted the feud between the Bishops and the Prides?  Dan doesn't know, but if hes going to make Prides Point his new home, he has to try.
