Sarracenia leucophylla White Top Pitcher Plant Carnivorous Plant Seeds
Sarracenia leucophylla is one of the most spectacular pitcher plants. The top of the leaf colors range from totally white, to white netted in green or white with red veins, or a combination of the three colors. Pitchers can reach up to 3 feet in height and over three inches in diameter. They produce large red nodding flowers.
Pitcher plants are one of the most efficient of all carnivorous plants, consuming vast numbers of insects. It lures its prey by secreting nectar around the lip of the pitcher; the nectar paralyses the insect and it falls into the tube. Once the insect reaches the bottom it is dissolved and the plant absorbs the nutrient value.
