Carruanthus ringens Seeds
South African Indigenous Succulent
The genus Carruanthus, which consists of two species, is found in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces in South Africa. Carruanthus ringens is characterized by heavily toothed leaves, like those of Faucaria; however, they are distinguishable by their stalked fruit. The leaves of Carruanthus peersii are much less toothed. Both plants produce bright yellow flowers in the spring. In their native ecosystems, Carruanthus ringens grows in full sun while Carruanthus peersii prefers shade. Both are easily propagated by seed.
