Carved in Stone is a series of profiles on some of the famous characters who helped develop and mould the history and culture of South Africa. They have two things in common: they were all Freemasons and members of the same Masonic Lodge, Lodge De Goede Hoop, in Cape Town.

As the narrative follows a specific timeline where each story leads into next it can really be considered one saga. It shows how the tensions of this transition led to momentous changes in the political landscape and the spread of Freemasonry to the rest of the country.
