Carvings made by a Boer Prisoner of War in Kakul Camp, India during 1902.
The items were acquired from a granddaughter of Burgher Josias J du Toit, PoW Number 30304 and include brooches as well as various items fashioned from soapstone, including a penknife, pipe bowl and an ingenious pocket watch-and-chain. Please note that one of the brooches suffered some damage.
