Crushes the spermatic cords leading into the testicles. Once the blood supply to the testicles is lost, the testicles eventually deteriorate completely.

It does not break the skin or the arteries to scrotum. Thus no blood and less risk of fly-strike. This method causes less chronic pain than elastic banding and less acute pain than surgical castration.
