CAULIFLOWER-VIOLET SICILIAN is a regional variety from Sicily & is a strong plant with broad, green-grey leaves. The florets of this Cauli are rosy-violet with a fine texture & good flavor. High mineral content accounts for the color. It has a superb taste both raw & cooked & is great for freezing.

Visually showy and creatively compelling, Purple of Sicily has plump, tightly compacted, brilliant purple heads. This coveted Italian heirloom weighs in at two to three pounds with a sweet flavor and just a hint of the characteristic Brassica tang.

The Purple of Sicily is a great heirloom variety of cauliflower that is easier to grow than other varieties, although it still requires proper care and a diligent eye to get proper head formation. Your hard work will be rewarded since this cauliflower grows beautiful, deep purple heads that turn green once cooked.

How to Plant Cauliflower
Sow seeds in rows 3 to 6 inches apart and up to ½ inch deep.
Set plants 18 to 24 inches apart with 30 inches between rows.
In early spring, be ready to protect plants from frost by covering them with old milk jugs, if necessary. ...
Water consistently during germination and growth.
