This year Callie and Monique Strydom will be celebrating 10 years of freedom. In 2000 they were kidnapped by Al Queda terrorist whilst on a diving holiday in Malaysia. They survived a terrible 4 month ordeal, during which they had very little to ead, had to face dangerous jungle creatures and had to run for their lives when they were attacked by the military.

On their return the founded two charities - Strydom Trust and Malta A Bana. These charities have helped thousands of people in South Africa. They have both received the Rotary International Paul Harris  Award and Monique was nominated as One of the Greatest Women of the 21st Century by the American Biographical Society.

National Discovery Channel made a documentary about their ordeal - this documentary is currently shown in many countries.

Monique is a very popular motivational speaker, whist Callie is a regional manager with Absa Bank.

They have not stopped travelling!
