Centenary Edition Sedgwick's Old Brown Sherry stoneware jug, created in 1986 to mark 100 years of South Africa's best-known sherry. Finished in the classic two-tone glaze with a deep brown dome and cream body, the jug carries the Cape sailing scene and The Original 1886-1986 script. This is the impressive 4.5 L display size, far scarcer than the miniature versions, and it brings real presence to a bar, man-cave, or vintage kitchen shelf.
The jug measures approximately 18.3 cm across the base and stands 27 cm tall. The base is stamped Vitreous China G.C. Ware Made in RSA, linking it to G.C. Ware of Ladysmith, who produced vitreous China and promotional stoneware for South African brands during the 1970s 1980s. Condition: age-related crazing consistent with these jugs but no chips or cracks. The original cork is no longer present as is the case with the vast majority of surviving examples.
A large commemorative jug with striking glaze and bold proportions, it remains one of the most recognisable South African liquor collectibles of the late 20th century.
