This sign belonged to a train nicknamed 'Liliputain', referring to the miniature people in the well known children's book 'Gulliver's travels'. It was probably called this because of it's relatively small size as it was narrow gauge steam locomotive. It ran on the 'Cabbage-express', the route (9.61km long) that often carried vegetables from a farming village - Weenen -  to a larger nearby town - Estcourt in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The sign was on a train that was manufactured somewhere in the early 20th century, starting in 1906. The train was one of four South African NG class locomotives used at the time. This is a true piece of South African Industrial era history.
