For best cooling, the unit needs to be placed in a well ventilated position. Especially where conditions are more humid. After a period of time the natural evaporation of salts starts to build up on the outside of the top chamber. This can be cleaned off by applying neat dishwashing liquid to the outside of the top chamber with a damp cloth. Periodically it is advisable to purchase an inexpensive cleaning kit from Healthmakers where the entire filter is dismantled and soaked in the solution provided.
