Champagne taps, also known as soda taps, are designed to penetrate the cork without actually opening the bottle. This means that the bubbles are preserved and the champagne will keep for a while if you don't want to drink the whole lot.
The archimedian worm screw could be drilled easily into the champagne cork, and the large central ring allows the middle finger to strengthen the
grip on the handle.
