Charles Blackman. Text by Nadine Amadio.
Autographed by both Blackman and Amadio.
In 1961, in London's Whitechapel Art Gallery, an Australian School of painting was 'discovered' by international art critics. Later that same year one of the young Australian painters singled out in that now-famous Whitechapel Exhibition was given a one-man show at the Matthiesen Gallery, again in London. The exhibition was hailed and Charles Blackman, at the age of thirty-three, had become an international painter of the highest degree.
