This is a lithograph, not a modern cheap reproduction. You don't see dots under a magnifying glass. In 1930 Charles Peers published two folios of lithographic drawings of which this is one. In fact it looks very much like a drawing. Because of its age it is slightly browned, but once you put a new mount and frame on it will look fantastic Lithograph is 34 by 23 cm. In a beige mount and very plain black wooden frame.
This listed artist is one of South Africa's old masters. He lived from 1875 to 1944. He concentrated on landscape subjects. His frequent use of diagonals and changes of direction lend vitality the construction of his pictures. He invariably tackled his subjects from an unconventional standpoint, according to Esme Berman, as here, painting from a diagonal viewpoint instead of head on.
