Charming English EPNS Pig and Ball Pin Cushion
Dating from the second half of the 19th century, this rather unusual pin cushion was made from electro plated nickel silver (EPNS) by Spurrier & Co of London and Birmingham.
The round ball stands about 1 ½ inches high and is decorated all over with a pattern of circles and lines. The top is open and filled with green plush to make a pin cushion.
The pig is permanently attached to the ball by metal solder. It is 1 ½ inches long and stands ¾ of an inch high.
The base of the ball is marked EPNS together with the makers marks.
The condition of the item is good - there is some light discoloration and the pig has a few minor dings as it to be expected with an item approximately 140 years old.The top of the circle is more triangle than round.
Size 6 x 4.5 x 3.5cm
It is in good condition as the pics showing a little wear commensurate with wear.
