CHARMING DIAMOND AND AMETHYST
CLUSTER RING - A PIECE OF VINTAGE ENGLAND!
This pretty ring has a floral, almost daisy-like feel to it with 6 oval faceted amethysts in a soft lilac hue interspersed with the 7 natural white diamonds: 6 on the outer frame of the ring head and one - slightly larger - in the centre of the ring head. The amethysts total 0,36 carats. A very feminine piece, it has a daintiness about it - belied by the 2,6 gram weight. The 9 carat yellow gold shank has unusual cut-away decorative detail on the shoulders of the ring; undoubtedly hand cut considering the age. Hallmarks include - along with the '375' British hallmark for 9 carat gold - the Royal crown for the metal origin, the Sheffield Assay office, the jeweller's signature and the 1935 date mark. The piece is 80 years old and shows definite signs of wear and tear - mainly in the gold, not so much the gemstones. When on the finger, barely noticeable, but under the magnifying glass, the joins of the gold around the cut-out detail are uneven and show age.
This charming diamond cluster ring is a real lady's piece. It will appeal to someone who likes pretty jewellery with history behind it!
