Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash is a side-scrolling platformer game developed for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, not the original Nintendo DS. In the game, players control a small, four-inch-tall robot named Chibi-Robo, who must travel the world to stop an alien invasion from stealing Earth's natural resources. 

The main gameplay revolves around using Chibi-Robo's power cord and plug in two primary ways:

• Whip Lash A quick, short-range attack used to hit enemies or interact with nearby objects.
• Zip Lash A chargeable attack where the plug is released at a distance, ricocheting off walls to solve puzzles, reach high-up areas, or collect distant items. 

As you progress through levels, you can collect "Boost-Balls" to extend the maximum length of the cord. The game requires you to manage Chibi-Robo's battery life ("watts"), which depletes with action and needs recharging at wall sockets found throughout the stages.

• 2D Platforming The game is a traditional 2D side-scrolling experience, a departure from the 3D adventure style of earlier games in the series.
• Collectibles Levels are filled with items to find, such as "Chibi-Tots" (smaller robots), "Moolah" (in-game currency), and real-world snacks (like Pocky or Airheads) which are used for scale and can be traded for in-game rewards.
• Environmental Puzzles Chibi-Robo's cord abilities are central to navigating levels, swinging across chasms using orange grapple points, or breaking specific obstacles.
• Vehicles and Abilities Certain levels feature unique sections where Chibi-Robo uses different vehicles, such as a skateboard or a submarine. Some sockets grant temporary elemental powers, like fire or ice.
