Chicken saddles OR Savers are made to protect your hen's back from a roosters nails and spurs. When a rooster overmates a hen it will lead to serious damage. The Hen's back will become bear and feathers would disappear as it would seem, overnight.
Some people would remove Roosters Spurs however this would be drastic and not necessary. Why remove or interfere with rooster's lifelyhood and how is he suppose to protect his flock when you can just get a chicken saddle? Feathers will re-grow.
