Probably the best book out of the USA/Vietnam saga. The author (Robert Mason) dreamed of flying helicopters and the US army gave him a chance. Between August 1965 and July 1966 he flew more than a 1000 assault missions. This book gives insight on that war in all its horror. As he experiences the accelerating terror, the increasingly desperate courage of a man "acting out the role of a hero long after he realizes that the conduct of the war is insane".
This is a bloody, painfully honest and courageous book and it will stun readers.
