Mrs Aeneas Gunns story of Bett-Bett, The Little Black Princess, is an Australian classic which has been read to generations of children since it appeared in the early years of this century.  In this edition the text has been complemented by the sensitive illustrations of Pam Harris which effectively capture for the child a visual impression of the context of Mrs Gunns writing.
Pam is a young Australian presently studying in Canada.  The Little Black Princess heralds her entry into book illustration.  The extracts from the original which have been included in this volume were chosen and adapted by Robyn Tranter.
