Offered for sale is a Chinese Qing dynasty 19th century ceramic bowl in the vibrant Sancai (Three Colours) glaze. This is a medium sized round deep bowl with a high footring. The Sancai glaze was popular in the Song dynasty but used also in later periods; this item is Qing dynasty (1644-1912) but most likely mid-late 19th Century. The Sancai glaze is an eye-catching glaze , hand painted with spontaneous mottled blotches in green, white , aubergine and yellow. In the antique trade this style of pottery is referred to as "egg and spinach" glaze. Dimensions ; width 15.10cm ; height 6cm ; width of foot ring 8.3cm .
