Description:

Chivas Regal is a blended Scotch whisky featuring both very old malt and grain whiskies.

Chivas Brothers first launched the Chivas Regal blend in 1909. Establishing it as a premium brand with a strong market in the US.

Although Prohibition briefly halted its success ten years later. It created an opportunity for Canadian distillers, Seagram, to become North Americas largest drinks company.

Seagram immediately targeted Chivas Brothers when entering the Scotch market. In 1949, Seagram acquired the firm, added Strathisla to its portfolio, and built three additional distilleries.

Over the years, Seagram expanded further by acquiring Campbell Distillers and The Glenlivet Distillers. Making it one of Scotlands largest whisky companies.

When the Seagram empire collapsed in the early 2000s, Pernod-Ricard acquired Chivas Brothers along with Allied Domecq, which included the Ballantines brand.

Today, Chivas produces two of the top three selling blends in the world. And its distillery portfolio, with Glenlivet as its flagship brand, rivals only Diageos.

In 2001, Chivas Regal specially produced a blend to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Chivas Brothers.
