Here we have a truly rare and interesting piece of SA Militaria!
This is a SA Army Parabat Slangvel copy smock/ field jacket in a foreign camo pattern and manufactured by a well known SA uniform supplier.
The cut and layout of the jacket is identical to the issue SADF/ SANDF para slangvel as worn by the members of 1 Para Bn and the Recces. This Slangvel is in mint condition and includes a tag indicating the manufacturer and size.
The only difference in this Slangvel is the absence of the "donkey tail" although the jacket has the press studs in place for the donkey tail.
I have researched the origin and purpose of this particular Slangvel in the US army type Choc-Chip camo pattern and have been told that a certain ex-Recce officer had these made for his security company which operated west of Jhb - this has not been confirmed.
The Slangvel has a removable cold-weather liner and is a LARGE size - cut a little big as I normally wear an XL (chest 44inch) and this Slangvel fits me perfectly when the inner is removed, with the inner installed the jacket would be true to size - a large.
A truly unique and interesting item!
Happy bidding!!!!
