Chris Norman has without doubt one of the most recognisable and charismatic voices in music history. He first found fame as the singer and guitarist of pop group Smokie, who were amongst the most successful and popular bands of the 1970s alongside ABBA and Boney M. The Smokie sound was characterised by Chris Norman’s trademark husky, soulful voice and they still enjoy a special standing in the music business today. Smokie had their breakthrough hit with “If you think you know how to love me” and stormed the charts with unforgettable songs like “Living next door to Alice” and “Lay back in the arms of someone”.

In the mid 80s Chris Norman left Smokie and has since been pursuing his very successful solo career. His probably biggest success as a solo artist was the song Midnight Lady, which was a massive hit throughout Europe holding the number one
spot in Germany for six weeks.
